We rented a car and left Paris for a couple of days. We drove to Deauville which is in Normandy. It is much larger than our Deauville and is one of the areas where Parisians spend their summers. We spent a couple of hours walking around and having lunch. Jack had escargot again and I had roasted camembert cheese drizzled with honey and served with bread. It was as good as it sounds.
From Deauville we drove to Omaha Beach and are in a hotel across the street from the beach. The beach is large and resembles most other beaches. There are monuments across the street from the beach and one of the gun parapets remains. It is a somber tribute. We will be going to the American cemetery tomorrow and do further exploring before returning to Paris.
