Left Bank, Paris

March 14, 2026

Breakfast included croissants from a bakery around the corner.  This may become routine!
We might have overdone it today with 7 hours of touring the Left Bank. That includes a lunch break. We visited a few churches and 2 museums.  We started with The Cluny Museum which is housed in a bath house from the first century and a turreted Gothic mansion. It holds an amazing collection of medieval artifacts. We visited a few churches along the way which were beautiful. We fit in a nice lunch and Jack enjoyed his first order of escargot of the trip. After lunch we walked past the Sorbonne, Annie's Alma mater, before heading to the Pantheon. Here we saw Marie Curie and Voltaire's crypts along with some stunning statues and architecture. It rained/hailed for a brief time, but it was mainly a beautiful day. We stopped on our way home for some cheese and a baguette for an authentic light French meal. I'm not sure what we'll do tomorrow, but it will definitely include less walking.
I am here
Beautiful churches
Adam, you probably recognized him by the fig leaf.
Altar front from the 11th century
Another altar front. The detailed carving is amazing and the fact that it has survived multiple centuries adds to the amazement.
The lady and the unicorn tapestries from the 15th century.
The above are from the Cluny Museum.
A happy man.

(Creepy but cool)

Saturday night vibes on the Seine with a piano player and mime. The mime isn't pictured because she was singing.  I'm not a mime expert but I think that's against the rules.
