We started today with a lovely breakfast at the hotel. From there we ventured out to Cortina d'Ampezzo where the 2026 winter Olympics are being held. They are in preparation mode. The city is surrounded with equipment indicating a lot of work is being done. It is Sunday so not much was happening work wise. Walking through town we encountered a band performing in the square. We don't know what it was about but it was fun to listen to them. Something was happening at the local Church since some of the folks were dressed in costume. One man appeared to be standing guard outside the Church during the service which seemed a little different. I wonder if he still had to attend Mass of if this counted.
. Most of the stores were closed since it is Sunday, and we were told that it's too early for Olympic souvenirs, so that was a little disappointing.
From Cortina we traveled to Lake Misurina where we had a picnic lunch next to the lake. It was a comfortable temperature but there was snow on the ground from a few days ago. It was a very nice place to have lunch. It is a quiet area but there were some tourists.
Our next stop was Tre Cime National Park. This is part of the Dolomites and the mountains are incredible to view. I'll post pictures and a description below.
We got back to the hotel mid-afternoon and spent some time on our balcony enjoying the view. There are a lot of tourists here so it's nice to be able to be above the crowds and enjoy the view quietly. We have visited many places this trip that have taken our breath away with their beauty. This has to be close to the top. It's so different here looking at the mountains and beautiful lake. I'm very happy we have the chance to experience it.

I don't know how people maintain their flowers. Many buildings still have flower boxes. It has been below freezing.
