It didn't rain today so we took a ferry ride to Riva Del Garda. Even though we were there before, we didn't realize how big it was and that it even has a couple of castles. One of the castles required a funicular ride so we passed on that. The other castle has been converted to an art museum. We were time limited since we needed to catch the ferry so we didn't go through the museum.  I did copy the information on the castle. There are many castles in this area and the ones we have seen so far seem to have similar histories. They are incredibly old and have gone through multiple changes.

We had a nice time walking around, shopping, having lunch, and enjoying ferry rides. The town is very nice and the ferry rides were beautiful. The color or the lake next to the mountains is really special

We passed multiple sailing races while on the ferry. Jack was enthralled and wishing he was on one of the boats. The ferry to Riva del Garda was almost empty so we had the ability to to walk around and follow some of the races. I did get nervous at one point when one of the sailors almost went in front of the ferry. The ferry horn was blown and  the sailor quickly turned his boat. He was accompanied by a motor boat so I think he was a novice.

We started preparing to leave when we returned to the apartment since we are heading for Lake Como tomorrow. That included eating in and working our way through the little refrigerator. We didn't have a lot of leftovers but since we are moving to a hotel for our next stop we aren't going to need the food. I can't believe we are approaching the end of this journey. It has been amazing and I'm looking forward to making the most of the next 5 days.

  2. I didn't know what funicular meant so I looked it up. Now I know why you chose not to take the ride. I'm glad it didn't rain so you could experience Riva del Garda, the sailboat races and the ferry rides more pleasantly.

  3. Sailboat races - just up Jack's alley. I'm surprised he didn't hop on a boat😂. Water looks beautiful and sunsets are wonderful. Gorgeous shots. (Helen)
