It's been another traveling through 3 countries day. We started in Cividale, Italy at our wonderful B&B, traveled through a small part of Slovenia, and returned to Croatia. We stopped for a visit in Groznjan, Croatia which is a settlement that dates back to 1102. It has a complicated history that you might be interested in Googling .(Less than 200 people live here.} I don't have the energy to write about it all. Most recently, @1955, it became the Town of Arts. Music and art flourish here but unfortunately, we did not hear the music part during our visit. I think we were too late in the season. We did get to visit numerous art, jewelry and ceramic shops where artists were selling their wares. It is a delightful setting, with very old buildings displaying current art and jewelry for sale. If I didn't have to worry about getting items home I would have bought a lot. The view of the hills below is breathtaking. We are in the Istria section of Croatia and this is considered the green section of Istria.
We left the green section of Istria and headed to the blue, Adriatic section of Istria. We had lunch in a town called Porec before heading to Rovinj. Our host, who does not speak English, greeted us at our studio apartment. You can not drive in this part of town so we walked with our backpacks and suitcases from the parking lot. It wasn't too far. Once we settled in, we ventured out to a small bar to watch the sunset. It was amazing and rivals NBYC's. We then had dinner at a restaurant across the way from where we are staying. It has a water view and made for a pleasant dining experience. Rovinj is an interesting little place and we are looking forward to exploring it more in the coming days.
Groznjan views, that's the Adriatic in the distance
Since we are back in Croatia , I have more cat photos. They really do make themselves at home.

Three countries - one just as beautiful as the next. I guess it doesn't matter where you live, everyone enjoys watching the sun set.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Sunset rivals NBYC. Beautiful. Love the scenery. (Helen)
