Today we moved to Solta which is an island off the coast of Split. Fortunately we left ourselves plenty of time to get to the car ferry because we got lost trying to find the parking lot where we left the car. We haven't been great at navigating Split. While we enjoyed our time there, two nights was enough and we are happy to move on.
Solta is @ an hour from Split via the car ferry. The ride was smooth and beautiful. We could see many other islands but haven't been able to figure out which was which. The town we are staying in is called Stomorska. As you'll see from the pictures it is very charming. Our studio apartment is lovely with an incredible view. It's walking distance to a little town which has several small restaurants, gelato places, and a small market. There is a area right in front of the house that has access to the water. It was a little chilly when we arrived so I didn't go in but Jack took a dip. We were able to walk to dinner and I had my first pear rakija. It is a type of brandy that is local to this area. I may have a new favorite drink. The walk home included seeing a rainbow and the rocky coastline. I think we are going to like this place. The weather is iffy this week but just being able to look out over the balcony should keep us happy for a while. Our hosts seem very nice but have limited English but I don't think we'll have any problems communicating.

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful views!! Are you warming up to cats yet? :) Janine
ReplyDeleteSeeing all the cats has been nice. None have tried to attack me yet so they're okay!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views in what seems from years ago. Margaret
ReplyDeleteThe views are magnificent. You should be able to experience a relaxing time there. How long will you be in Solta?
ReplyDeleteWe'll be in Solta until Monday. We are enjoying some down time. It's really interesting being surrounded by people who speak other languages.
