We spent the day exploring Split. It's a very interesting town. We returned to the Diocletian's palace to explore it a little further. We got an early start and it was rainy and cool so we were able to avoid the crowds.   It is an impressive place. We were lucky that some Klappa singers were performing in the vestibule during our visit. (A group of men, clad in matching attire, sing acapella style, which is amplified naturally by their placement in the vestibule.) I have tried to include a brief video that I hope allows you to experience what we heard.(Kip, I think you'll love this) I wasn't able to upload this video here but I was able to post it on Facebook.

We went to the ferry location to scope out what we have to do tomorrow. Several ferries were cancelled today because of wind. We're hoping we don't have any problems tomorrow. We walked through the local market which was loaded with fresh fruit and vegetables. We're hoping they have something similar to this on the Island we are going to tomorrow.

For fun, we climbed over 330 steps to view Split and the harbor from above. It was worth it. We then treated ourselves to a beer and cevapi sandwich. It's a local favorite and was delicious. We also had a great dinner at a local restaurant that served local cuisine.

  1. It was beautiful to hear the Klappa singers on Facebook. I agree that the view was well worth the climb.
