This has been a low-key day. It started out a little chilly with a light rain so we decided to explore the island. we drove all the way to the end which took about 30 minutes. We like our town better and returned. We stopped at the grocery store on the way back and weren't even intimidated. We ordered some prepared food as well as finding traditional groceries. We are making progress.

The skies cleared and it warmed up a bit. We walked around our neighborhood and eventually made it down to the local beach. It is really beautiful here. We came across a local group that is sailing with kids whose families experienced loss during the war here. All of the kids have some type of disability. They have been in town for a couple of days staying on their boats and seem like they are having a great time.

We eventually went for a swim and acted like locals sitting on the pebbly beach with only towels. I'm not a fan. Even with a sandy beach, I prefer a chair and a high one if I have the option. Struggling to get up from sitting on the ground, or a low chair, has become a reality. We cooked and ate dinner on our balcony. This involved mainly reheating, but it took some effort since it meant learning how to use the oven that has totally different controls. Jack figured it out and was happy to use all the ketchup he wanted on his French fries. It's the little things!

I think the cats heard I was getting more comfortable with them. This guy followed us down the street.

  1. You seem to be getting more comfortable adjusting to the different cultures. It's wonderful that you were able to see the kids and learn about why they were there. I'm glad Jack can put as much ketchup as he wants on his fries. Like you said - it's the little things.
