Today has been cooler with rain on and off. We had planned on touring the island so it wasn't a problem. We drove to Vela Luka which was the other end of the island. This involved a long winding road not dissimilar from what we've seen before. It took less than an hour to cross the whole island. Vela Luka is a port city that is newer than most of the other cities we've visited. It seems like a nice city but I prefer the charm of Korcula. We stopped along the way at Vela Spila which is an archeological site dating back to the Stone Age, approximately 20,000 years ago. It was small but interesting.

After gelato in Vela Luka, it makes every day better, we drove back to the apartment with a quick stop at a beach I'd read about. The beach looked nice but required a particularly windy, narrow road that I would not want to travel along on a busy beach day. We just returned from a  nice dinner out and we will head to Split tomorrow. We have really enjoyed our time in Lumbarda. Staying here comfortably requires a car and access to the ferry and water taxis. Traveling to different islands, exploring Korcula, and visiting the LaBanya Beach club were highlights that would have been tough to get to with out the car.

Vela Luka-not sure what this represents since the description is in Croatian, but it looks important!

Lunch view from the car enjoying our packed lunch. It was raining so we had to improvise on the picnic we planned.
Long steep climb to the cave site. I really need to get better at looking at the details of these trips. There was a parking area at the top of the climb right next to the site. We were pretty winded by the time we reached the top.

Lovely meal which ended with a glass of grappa, a local liquor, not                                                 pictured.

The black dots are sea urchins that were right below where we were sitting. I don't know much about them other than they are spiky and people eat them.
