Yesterday we spent a wonderful afternoon at Velika Plaza, Giovanni's Beach. I know, I don't think it sound's Montenegrin either. There was a wonderful breeze and Kite surfers to keep us amused, similar to watching the birds in Deauville. We had our first dip in the Adriatic and it was lovely. The area on the drive to the beach was a bit lacking in appeal. I don't think they employ urban planners or many folks that focus on road development. It seems like they horseshoe in apartment buildings any where they can squeeze them and it looks very haphazard. Some of the roads were narrow dirt paths where you need to be on the lookout for people walking on the road not paying much attention to cars. Worse than Lavallette on a July afternoon.
The beach made up for these weaknesses with it's beauty. It was very well maintained and there was a bar a restaurant on site.

In the evening, we enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant and Jack went native with grilled octopus. It was a very nice dinner and surprisingly reasonably priced.
I would have posted last night but the power went out. I didn't stay out long but I was in bed by the time it came on.
Today we ventured out to Lake Skadar which is inland and beautiful. The mountains and sea views are amazing. The drive was challenging in sections, but it added to the adventure. For a few miles Google detoured us to what can only be described as driving on the Seaside Boardwalk if it was paved and a third of the size. Between the vendors and people walking in the street, or us driving on their walkway, it's a miracle we didn't hit anyone. The boat ride that followed offered the relaxation we both needed.
The boat ride toured Skadar Lake which is in Montenegro and Albania. We did not cross into Albania but the tour guide showed us what direction it was. It's in the background of one of the pictures of Jack. We stopped for a brief swim which Jack and I both enjoyed, even though the thought of getting on and off the boat intimidated me. I survived without injury!
Getting back to the apartment is aways a challenge. The roads are so step and winding the that make the roads in Ireland seem easy. I have to admit the I am very happy Jack is driving and most of you know that is never my go too!
Not in Deauville anymore!
A brief stop to share wine with a passing boat that was running low. Seamen are very friendly.
Post swim in the lake!
Lily pads abound
There were birds all around but I didn't do a good job of photographing them. You can't tell but this is a pelican.
Possibly Albania in the background
Old fort
A beautiful way to spend a couple of hours.
Sounds simply lovely. Sorry the roads are so challenging! the pictures are great, keep them coming!
