Today was a repeat of yesterday, without taking the wrong stairs home. We were reminded of how out of shape we are and the route is literally uphill both ways. We did have shoes and it wasn't snowing though. We were exhausted when we arrived back to our apartment but it was worth it. It is surprising how few English speaking tourists there are. Yesterday we come across two men from Washington DC and today the people next to us at lunch were speaking English part of the time. All the restaurants have people who speak English but when we were lost, no one seemed to understand us. To be fair, we looked sweaty and like ugly Americans.                                                         View from our chairs                           ...

We had dinner out last night at a beautiful restaurant. The food was just okay but the view was amazing. Be warned if you order a shrimp dish it is not peeled which makes for a messy dinner. Jack was not thrilled. Unfortunately we got lost on the walk home. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but it was all uphill, steep uphill, and instead of a difficult 20 minute walk it was a difficult almost an hour walk. We were sore and exhausted when we arrived back. Walking in flat NJ doesn't prepare us for this type of excursion. (Joette I need hills and stairs included in my training routine if I ever do this type of trip again)  Today we went to Old Town Ulcinj. We must have climbed about 200 steps each way. Again we are not in shape for this but it was sooo worth it. The swim and the view were unbelievable. There were hardy any other people there. We had lunch overlooking the Adriatic and lounged for about 4 hours. It was so beautiful we thought we were going to be told it was a ...

Yesterday we spent a wonderful afternoon at  Velika Plaza, Giovanni's Beach. I know, I don't think it sound's Montenegrin either. There was a wonderful breeze and Kite surfers to keep us amused, similar to watching the birds in Deauville. We had our first dip in the Adriatic and it was lovely. The area on the drive to the beach was a bit lacking in appeal. I don't think they employ urban planners or many folks that focus on road development. It seems like they horseshoe in apartment buildings any where they can squeeze them and it looks very haphazard. Some of the roads were narrow dirt paths where you need to be on the lookout for people walking on the road not paying much attention to cars. Worse than Lavallette on a July afternoon. The beach made up for these weaknesses with it's beauty. It was very well maintained and there was a bar a restaurant on site.                             ...

We made it! We are in Montenegro. The flight was delayed about a half an hour but that wasn't a problem. There was a baby screaming for about half the trip but I felt more sorry for the parents and people sitting near it than us. Neither Jack nor I got more than an hour's worth of sleep. First lesson of the trip is don't fly Basic Economy on an over-night flight. We were so cramped it was impossible to get comfortable enough to sleep. You know it was bad if Jack didn't sleep. Getting the rental at the airport went vey smoothly and we were off. Jack was a trouper and handled the driving and navigation beautifully. I was completely useless and ended up with a migraine that resulted in frequent stops along the way. Aside from that, the travel itself was as good as we could have asked. We were through the border in less then half an hour. I had read it could take hours. We connected with the car ferry seemlessly, and were on our way through the windy mountain roads. Not id...
